Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw‘s Brothers of the Sun Tour has continued to reach new heights almost nightly, most recently with their performance at MetLife Stadium over the weekend (Saturday, Aug. 11), where they set a local record.

The sold-out stadium show was the largest ticketed country event ever in the New York City and New Jersey areas with a total of 56,285 ticket sold. Plus, the show broke Chesney’s previous record, set last year on August 13 in that same area on the Goin’ Coastal Tour.

“The excitement and buzz for this show was through the roof since the day it was announced,” said Interim MetLife Stadium President Ron VanDeVeen. “We couldn’t imagine how last year’s Goin’ Coastal show could be topped, but this truly was the biggest country show we’ve ever seen.”

In addition to being named Pollstar’s biggest tour of 2012, the Brothers of the Sun Tour broke another record recently when the trek reached its millionth ticket sold. While certainly a feat, it was Chesney’s ninth time to do so in 10 years.

“I want to thank you for having us back, and thank you for letting us be a part of your summer,” Chesney told the crowd at MetLife on Saturday night. ”After tonight we only have four shows left, and we’re gonna take this night with us all winter.”
