Alex Hayes is leaving KTAB-TV. Hayes, who has been producer and host of the daily local news program KTAB 4u and has lent her talents as meteorologist when needed for the Abilene station, has accepted a position with a television station in Lexington, KY.

Hayes made the announcement Monday in a blog on her Tumblr page, and shared the news on her Facebook page as well. It stated:

I knew the day would eventually come. I didn’t think it would be this soon, but alas my time has arrived.

At the end of this week, I will be packing up my things and hitting the road to Lexington, Kentucky. I have accepted a position at the CBS affiliate, WKYT, as a Meteorologist and producer.

Hayes went on to explain the reason for her decision to leave Abilene:

As many of you may know, I was recently engaged, (to a former Abilene reporter as luck would have it) and for the past year we have been in a long distance relationship. This opportunity will bring my fiance Tim and I back together, thankfully in the same state. Professionally, it will also be a new challenge for me, as I will be taking on a new role as a news producer.

I cannot tell you how much I will miss everyone in Abilene.

As her last day on KTAB 4u approached, Alex made an additional statement via Facebook:

Hard to believe this is my last day in Abilene and my last day on KTAB 4u! The show has grown so much from where we started and it has been so much fun getting to meet so many people over the past two years. Thank you for letting me come into your homes every afternoon! I will miss you guys!

She's right. The show has grown considerably, and Hayes deserves the credit. It's a pretty big undertaking to host and produce a daily show, and she handled the job like a champ. Congratulations on a job well done. We wish Alex the best of luck in the next chapter of her life.
