Because it just wouldn’t be the holidays without all our loved ones squabbling with one another, the show-runners of our favorite TV series are at it again. Late last week brought the shocking news that ‘The Walking Dead‘ showrunner Glen Mazzara would depart the series for the fourth season, followed by ‘Sons of Anarchy‘ creator Kurt Sutter’s profane public response to AMC. Now, ‘Walking Dead’ comic creator and AMC executive producer Robert Kirkman has issues his own response to Sutter’s rant, fueling the fire. The battle rages inside!

AMC fans aren’t likely to receive a clear answer on all the network’s show-runner drama, this past week claiming the involvement of ‘The Walking Dead’s Glen Mazzara. Previous behind-the-scenes issues with the network led to the departure of ‘Hell on Wheels‘ creative team, ‘Breaking Bad‘s truncated end, and ‘Mad Men‘s fifth season delay, but has the latest issue taken things over the edge?

Rarely one to keep silent. ‘Sons of Anarchy’ creator Kurt Sutter recently voiced his displeasure with AMC for his former ‘The Shield’ partner’s exit from ‘The Walking Dead’ pulling very few punches with his profanity. Now, ‘The Walking Dead’ creator Robert Kirkman has chimed in, replying via Twitter that “[Kurt Sutter] is brilliant and Sons is my favorite show on TV. Still, it’s upsetting to see him ranting about things he knows nothing about. ”

Indeed, much as with previous ‘The Walking Dead’ show-runner Frank Darabont, the exact circumstances of Mazzara’s exit aren’t likely to be made public. Kirkman first commented on Mazzara’s departure along with the original announcement, saying:

I am in full support of both AMC and Glen Mazzara in the decision they have come to and believe the parties came to this decision in the best interest of the future of the show.

I thank Glen for his hard work and appreciate his many contributions to The Walking Dead and look forward to working with him as we complete postproduction on season three. I am also excited to begin work on another spectacular season of this show that I know means so much to so many people.

This show has always been the result of a wide range of extremely talented men and women working tirelessly to produce their best work collectively. I believe the future is bright for The Walking Dead. Thank you to the fans for your continued support.

Even on Christmas Eve, both Sutter and Kirkman continue to spar over Twitter, utilizing language that would cause many a monocle to shatter. Will the madness never cease?

What say you? Was Sutter right to call out AMC for their numerous show-runner difficulties? Does Robert Kirkman have a point? Weigh on the latest ‘Walking Dead’ controversy in the comments!
