Could Lady Gaga be starring in 'Zoolander 2' alongside Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson? Back in 2010, Wilson said that Gaga "has to be" involved in the sequel and now is that dream casting actually taking shape?

For now, we'll mark this one as a serious rumor but one that may have some truth behind it. British tabloid The Sun (that's our first red flag) reports that Gaga is in talks to play the female lead in the film. Whether or not she'll play herself remains to be seen but the report is that she would play both a rival of Derek Zoolander and Hansel who eventually serves as a love interest for one (or both?) of them. It sounds a little silly but let's be honest: Owen Wilson was right. How exactly do you have a 'Zoolander 2' and not have some appearance by Lady Gaga?

In 2011 Stiller explained 'Zoolander 2' as follows:

It’s ten years later and most of it is set in Europe... it’s basically Derek and Hansel... though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they’re not really relevant anymore. It’s a new world for them.

Will Ferrell is expected to return as the villainous Mugatu and actor Justin Theroux (also writer of 'Tropic Thunder' and current Jennifer Aniston fiance) will make his directorial debut on the film.

As for Lady Gaga, she makes her acting debut in the upcoming Robert Rodriguez film 'Machete Kills.'

UPDATE: Reading about the rumor presumably in OK Magazine, Ben Stiller took to Twitter, saying:
