LeAnn Rimes has had her share of rough patches over the past couple of years, mainly beginning with her affair with actor Eddie Cibrian. The relationship resulted in both Rimes and Cibiran divorcing their spouses and getting together. Now, LeAnn is opening up about the emotional rollercoaster she has been on.

The country singer now has a new CD, 'Spitfire' coming out June 4th, that explores the hard times Rimes has been through. Along with checking herself into a treatment facility, singing about her problems appears to be therapeutic, because now LeAnn has a fresh outlook on life. She tells UsWeekly:

"I was feeling all these crazy emotions and feeling terrible about myself and was disgusted by myself and thought I was pathetic...I went in and took care of myself because I was stressed, I was depressed and anxious, and I didn't know how to process everything. Going away was something I really needed to do."

Rimes checked herself into an in-patient facility last August to deal with stress and anxiety, the result of the "emotional roller coaster" she was on after her affair became public.

"Sometimes it takes walking through those tough times to come out the other side stronger and wiser. I'm gonna make mistakes as I move on in life, but that's who we are, and I'm fortunate that I've grown a lot and I'm proud of who I am now. It's a good place to be."

LeAnn is showing an intimate side with the release of 'Spitfire'. She alludes to the idea that the new CD was an emotional outlet:

"I think I opened up the can of worms for myself by writing this record. There were a lot of things I didn't even realize I was feeling."

No matter how successful the new album is, it sounds like LeAnn Rimes will be very satisfied with her effort on 'Spitfire'.

"I'm the strongest I've ever been.  I'm the most honest with myself that I've ever been, I'm the most secure I've ever been about myself and my family, and I'm the most confident I've been in a really long time."
