Lee Brice Offers a Different Opinion on Ashton Kutcher ACM Awards Ordeal

Lee Brice hit the airwaves this week to talk to 99.9 Kiss Country‘s Kenny Walker about the ACM Awards, his thoughts on the whole Ashton Kutcher debacle and his sophomore album, ‘Hard 2 Love,’ which hits stores April 24.

In light of recent news which caused a buzz, the country star opened up to the radio station about his personal thoughts on Ashton Kutcher’s over-the-top country garb and attempted vocal rendition of George Strait‘s ‘I Cross Your Heart’ at the ACM Awards. The actor’s appearance was deemed ‘distasteful‘ by Justin Moore, and  Miranda Lambert also tweeted her questioning of Kutcher’s whole performance. But Brice says he thinks the ‘Two and a Half Men’ funny guy was just innocently trying to sing the song.

“Man, I honestly didn’t think he was mocking. I think he was a pretty genuine guy,” he says. “I think he was really tying to sing the song and was like … he’s just not a good singer. I really think that he loves country music. I don’t think he’d have been there if he didn’t. So I didn’t get any of that from there. Maybe [Justin and Miranda] really did feel that way or maybe they’re just causing up a little stink to have something to talk about. I actually thought he was pretty sincere. He was funny I thought.”

Still speaking of the ACM Awards, Brice spilled that he will have an ACM trophy to put on his shelf, since he co-wrote the Eli Young Band songs ‘Crazy Girl,’ which took home Song of the Year last weekend. He joked that even though he does get a trophy, and they did let him hold it and take pictures with it, they quickly took it back from him and said “We mail these things.”

Brice is gearing up for the release of his new record ‘Hard 2 Love,’ which impacts later this month. His lead single from the record, ‘A Woman Like You,’ has been climbing the charts and is currently sitting at No.2 on Billboard’s Country Songs chart, just below Jake Owen‘s ‘Alone With You.’ If the song tops out, it will be Brice’s first No.1 hit.
