Little Big Town Go Motorboatin’ With 70K ‘Pontoon’ Fans for ‘CMA Music Festival’ Special

While artists like Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood left fans at the 2012 CMA Music Festival sore from dancing, Little Big Town created a slow and sexy groove with their summertime hit ‘Pontoon.’ The chart-topping song was still new to radio in June when the ABC special was taped, but the crowd left no doubt that the foursome had a hit on their hands.
Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman handled most of the singing, with Fairchild taking lead. The two looked smokin’ in black as they led the crowd in one 70-thousand-seat motorboatin’ exercise. ‘Pontoon’ has since gone on to become Little Big Town’s first No. 1 hit.
Bryan introduced Little Big Town. He and the Band Perry‘s Kimberly Perry handled the hosting duties for the ‘CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock,’ which aired on Sept. 17. The second-annual televised recap of the four-day summer festival included performances from all of the city’s biggest stars and interviews with artists like Underwood, Hunter Hayes and Rascal Flatts.
