These days, Luke Bryan is one of country music's leading superstars, but even he had to start from somewhere. Bryan moved to Nashville in 2001 and landed a deal as a songwriter; the Georgia native co-wrote the title track of Travis Tritt's 2004 album My Honky Tonk History and Billy Currington's No. 1 song "Good Directions" before signing his own record deal with Capitol Nashville.

In August of 2007, Bryan released his debut album, I'll Stay Me, which includes his first single, "All My Friends Say." Bryan co-wrote the track with Jeff Stevens and Lonnie Wilson, and it became a Top 5 hit. Below, Bryan recalls where he was when he heard the song on the radio for the very first time.

I was on the tour bus, on Highway 82, between Leesburg, Ga., and Montgomery, Ala. The song was "All My Friends Say."

I can't describe how overwhelming and exciting that moment was! As an artist, it's something you wait for your whole life to hear, and when it actually happens, you are screaming and crying at the same time!
