If you’re looking for something different to do in Abilene, I may have something for you. Get your friends or the family signed up for a miniature golf tournament this Thursday evening.

I know, it wasn’t the first idea you had, but think about it for a second. It’s an inexpensive outdoor activity that can serve as a family night out, date night, or just a night to relax and goof around with your friends. Why not?

Play Faire Park on N. 2nd Street in Abilene is hosting the miniature golf tournament, taking place this Thursday, April 26th from 6-9pm. It only costs $6 per person ($12 per 2-person team), which is just about how much you might pay for mini golf any other time. It takes on a 2-person, low ball format, and as long as a minimum number of teams is met, there will be cash prizes awarded to the winners.

If you’re interested, call Play Faire Park at 325.672-2977 for more information.

Play Faire Park is a really unique place. If you haven’t been there before, you need to sometime. The park is truly an Abilene treasure, now open for its 65th year, and the entertainment only begins with miniature golf.

Doc England, park owner, regularly books live local music on the stage in the northwest corner of the park. They also had their 9th annual Earth Day celebration, which included a “Tree Hugger’s Ball”, a tie-dye clinic, and a tree planting. They’ve held fundraisers and other events at the park to support area organizations from The Humane Society to the Abilene Derby Dames roller derby team.

Basically, there is something out of the ordinary for just about everyone going on at Play Faire. Have you got any “outside the box” activities you like to do?
