Miranda Lambert Breaks Into Tears During Alabama Concert

Country sweetheart Miranda Lambert has been in the news a good bit lately, and most of the headlines have revolved around the personal tragedies she’s encountered in the past couple of weeks. The ‘Baggage Claim’ singer had to deal with the death of her father-in-law, her childhood friend and even her beloved dog, Dixie. Though Lambert has been dealing with these losses, she kept most of her On Fire Tour in tact, but the emotion of everything overcame her at a Huntsville, Ala. show Thursday night. There, Lamber broke down crying in the middle of her nostalgic hit ‘The House That Built Me.’

Before launching into the song, Lambert admitted to her audience, ”It’s been a rough couple of weeks. I lost my father-in-law and then I lost one of my best friends in a tragic car accident,” the singer shared from stage, according to Country Vibe. “I learned something over the last couple of weeks, that it’s OK to let music heal you.”

Later in the set, when she was performing ‘The House That Built Me’ (a song with direct emotional and personal ties to her childhood), Lambert made a valiant effort and made it to the second chorus and the line, “I thought if I could touch this place or feel it / The brokenness inside me might start healing,” before she had to step away from the mic to weep.

Lambert’s adoring audience took up the reins and continued to sing the song to the clearly grateful singer, who mouthed along as she collected herself once again. Expressing her gratitude to her supportive fans, she said, ”Y’all have helped me feel so much better. I’m back. I swear I’m back.”
