Pistol Annies is one of the most bold acts in country music, and it's this power of three that inspires Miranda Lambert to be fearless when writing with the group.

Speaking with Hits Daily DoubleLambert describes how writing and recording with her Annies cohorts Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley is a "relief," taking off some of the pressure that comes with writing solo.

"Because there’s three of us, it’s such a relief in a different way. It makes me more brave, because when there’s three of us, we can say whatever we want," she explains. "It’s fun. It’s a slumber party with songwriting."

The trio of friends has seen two chart-topping albums, with their debut Hell on Heels claiming the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, in addition to reaching the Top 5 on the multi-genre Billboard 200. Their sharp songwriting and engaging delivery have also earned them unanimous acclaim among critics.

"It teaches me why writing alone is so much more pressure, and so much harder. That right there, paper and pen, scares me to death. But I know there’s a resolve. You sit your ass in a chair, and you’re gonna wait and it’s gonna come. Deadlines are hard for us, but they’re also good. I know it," Lambert continues.

Lambert revealed in 2017 that the Annies are reuniting and currently working on a new project, saying fans could expect an album in 2018. However, she later revealed in an early 2018 interview that while the trio is working on new music, a project isn't close to completion.

"Everybody is kind of in different directions, which is why the Annies always takes a while," she says. "We're very much in the spirit of the Annies right now."

It seems that a project is slowly coming along, as the trio got together in May of 2018 for a poolside writing session.

As the Annies prepare to make their mark on the genre for the third time, Lambert will hit the road with Little Big Town on the co-headlining Bandwagon Tour that sees 13 dates in July and August.
