Miranda Lambert Battles Emotions Accepting Single Record of the Year Win for ‘Over You’ at the 2013 ACMs

It was a two-fer for Miranda Lambert at the 2013 ACM Awards on Sunday. After accepting the win for Song of the Year for her emotional ballad 'Over You' (co-written with husband Blake Shelton), she won the trophy for Single Record of the Year for the same song. The award means the world to Lambert, and not just because she penned it about her hubby's late brother. It was validation for her work as a songwriter.

The 'Mama's Broken Heart' singer gave a beautiful and heartfelt acceptance speech, saying, "Having your songs and your lyrics be recognized by your peers is pretty much as good as it gets. I am so thankful for being in this genre of country music." She choked back tears as she gushed with pride over her membership in the country community.

Lambert closed her speech by saying, "Thank you for accepting me as a songwriter, and not just as a singer and performer."

Since country music is all about the ability to effectively tell a story via strong songwriting, something Shelton tells 'The Voice' contestants on a weekly basis, Lambert's award is huge for her. And it's beyond deserved.

She beat out stiff competition from Eli Young Band, Little Big Town, Eric Church and Hunter Hayes, but we can't argue with her being the one to notch the big win.
