Country music fans are getting a preview of Dave Cobb's upcoming concept album, Southern Family, with the release of Miranda Lambert's contribution to the project, "Sweet By and By."

"Sweet By and By" is one of 12 tracks on the Southern Family album, each of which is performed by a different country artist, including Zac Brown, Brandy Clark, Jason Isbell, Jamey Johnson and others. The tracks are all meant to give listeners a look into each singer's upbringing, and "Sweet By and By" is no exception for the Texas-born Lambert.

“These are songs written about growing up and songs that are cut that they’ve heard,” Cobb says. “Maybe one your mother sang to you. Something that means a lot to your family.”

Cobb conceived of and produced the compilation album, and he says that the project fits the current culture and musical feeling in Music City.

"There’s a lot of great things about Nashville. There’s something here that doesn’t exist anywhere else in my lifetime,” he says. “I’m sure this happened in London in the ‘60s and California in the ‘70s and maybe New York in the late ’50s or early ‘60s. But I think, right now, Nashville is the home of music.”

Southern Family is set for release on March 18. The project is available for pre-order via iTunes and Amazon.
