Miranda Lambert may have just kicked off her 2012 tour, but she’s never too busy to help a fan in need. Last week, the ‘Baggage Claim’ singer made a pit stop at a hospital in Rockford, Ill. to visit a young fan who is still recovering from a horrific Christmas Eve car accident.

13-year-old Lexi Crose was in a crash just before Christmas that killed her mother and step brother and left her hospitalized, according to a local news source. Nearly a month later, she’s still on the mend.

Crose had tickets to see Lambert’s concert in Rockford on Jan. 12, the first show of the tour. Unfortunately, given her injuries, she couldn’t make it — but when Lambert caught wind of why her young fan wasn’t able to attend, she decided to pop in to see her. “I met a new friend today. She is 13 and her name is Lexi,” Lambert tweeted last week. “Prayers for her and her family everyone. She is a doll!” With her tweet, the Texas-born songstress included a photo of Lexi, who was decked out in pink and holding a sweet stuffed lion — perhaps a gift from Lambert.

Later that night, the ‘Four the Record’ hitmaker made a few thousand more friends as she launched into her 2012 tour, and even dedicated her song ‘Famous in a Small Town’ to Lexi. “Thank you Rockford for last night. I felt like I left there with 7,000 new friends,” she said the next day, adding that the Illinois crowd brought her to tears. “Seriously tho don’t make me cry again when I come back!”

Lambert’s tour continues this week with shows scheduled in Charlotte, N.C., Lexington, Ky. and Greensboro, N.C. Additionally, it was just announced that she and her husband Blake Shelton will be in attendance at Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis, performing a duet of ‘America the Beautiful’ together.
