Before each show on their summer run of tour dates, Montgomery Gentry are selecting a local hero to showcase during their set. The idea is simple: recognize a man or woman from local fire or police department, or someone who made a difference elsewhere. Then, simply say "thank you."

Prior to taking the stage at the 2013 Taste of Country Music Festival, Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry told Taste of Country that such an idea was inspired by recent high-profile tragedies.

"There's so many more heroes that go without being thanked," Gentry explained. If the duo is coming to a nearby town, submit your nomination for someone who deserves to be honored at their official website.

MoGent also shared advice they got from their fathers and opened about a potential tour with John Michael Montgomery -- "If we can get him off the golf course," Gentry joked.
