If you missed the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen over the weekend, you missed probably the best finish I’ve seen so far this season.  Marcos Ambrose used the  blown up engine of another driver to his advantage, and barely beat a charging Brad Keselowski to win for the second time in a row in the Finger Lakes 355.

Anytime NASCAR heads to road courses, you’ll see plenty drivers bumping each other pretty much the whole race, but the last few laps are about as intense as you can get.

With just a handful of laps to go, Kyle Busch had a pretty good lead over the 2nd place carsof Brad Keselowski and the 3rd place car of Marcos Ambrose.  That all changed though when the #47 of Bobby Labonte blew his engine up spewing oil all over the track and making it very slick. All of a sudden, Kyle Busch’s #18 machine drove through the oil and spun him out making room for Keselowski and Ambrose to drive by on the very last lap.

Final Laps at Watkins Glen

Kyle Busch was not available for comment after the race which makes sense because I would be pretty ticked  off as well if I lost a race like he did.

The race stirred up the points series as Jimmy Johnson is the new leader.  Dale Earnhardt Jr. dropped 3 spots to #4 after wrecking and finishing 28th while Jeff Gordon dropped out of the top 10 completely.

Here’s how the point standings look with just 4 races left to go before the Race to the Chase starts.

Next race up will be at Michigan this weekend.

So, which type of racing do you like better?  Road courses or super speedways?
