For the seventh year, February 28th is National Pancake Day. The day was started by well-known breakfast and pancake chain IHOP (International House of Pancakes) as the finale to a month-long charity drive for Children’s Miracle Network.

This year is no different. IHOP has been raising money for CMN in its restaurants for the entire month of February, and now it’s time for a big “thank you” and a last push for donations. To celebrate National Pancake Day, IHOP restaurants are giving customers a free “short stack” of pancakes from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. In return, they are asking for donations to CMN or other local charities.

The first National Pancake Day was celebrated in 2006, and since then IHOP has raised approximately $8 million for Children’s Miracle Network. They expect to raise about $2.7 million this year. All proceeds stay local, going to the nearest hospital.

You can’t really beat a free stack of pancakes. So how can you celebrate National Pancake Day?

You’ll have to beat the record set in 2005, but all you’ll need to do is make a pancake bigger than this 2.5 ton one made in Canada. You’ll probably need a lot of Bisquick and a really large spatula.

Flip Them Like This Guy

Once you’ve made the pancakes, your celebration will not be complete until you flip them. Chris of Chris’ Cakes shows you exactly how it’s done. Just make sure you have a large batch to practice with.

Australian chef Andy Wrobel recently broke the world record for the tallest stack of pancakes. Measuring in at almost 2.5 feet, the stack makes the IHOP Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity look like a measly plate of crepes.
