‘Need For Speed’ Snags Aaron Paul for Movie Adaptation
EW reports that Aaron Paul of AMC's acclaimed series 'Breaking Bad' has just signed on to star in 'Need for Speed,' based on the Electronic Arts video game series about racing cars. The games don't really have a plot, but they'll make movies out of anything and 'The Fast and the Furious' has proved durable, so here we are.
Scott Waugh ('Act of Valor') will direct from a story and script by brothers George and John Gatins. George is the executive producer of 'She's Out of My League,' while John has penned scripts for 'Real Steel' and the upcoming Robert Zemeckis film 'Flight,' starring Denzel Washington. It seems John Gatins, who has now worked on stories about fighting robots and airplanes, may have a fondness for heavy machinery and mechanics.
Aaron Paul has been making the jump from small screen to big screen -- most recently starring in the indie drama 'Smashed' alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead. 'Breaking Bad's' final season airs next year, leaving Paul with plenty of room in his schedule.
