It's been quite a ride for the lads of One Direction. Two years ago they were contestants on the British 'X Factor' and now they're the hottest boy band in the world.

But perhaps this success has gone to the fivesome's heads, as Canadian DJ Scott Rush was given a ridiculously restricting list of questions he couldn't ask band member Zayn Malik right before he had been scheduled to do a telephone interview with him.

The banned questions were as follows:

1. Who is your celebrity crush?
2. Which of you have girlfriends?
3. Who came up with the name One Direction?
4. Anything "X Factor"-related
5. Worst habits about each other
6. Do you guys fight?
7. Best prank someone pulled on you
8. Describe each other in one word
9. Funniest fan stories
10. If not in the band, what would you be doing?
11. Pre-show rituals
12. No questions about money or religion

Rush expressed his displeasure with these restrictions by ending his interview with Zayn after just saying hello. The 15-year radio veteran then blasted One Direction in an email, writing "I have never in my career experienced anything remotely close to this."

In response to Rush, One Direction's management released a statement saying the whole thing was a big misunderstanding. They argue that instead of giving Rush a list of question he couldn't ask under any circumstances they were simply trying to steer him away from inquiries the band had grown tired of answering and their fans had grown tired of hearing them answer.

Notably, the list of "banned" question didn't include anything hair-related. Suggesting the band never grows tired of discussing their admittedly luminous locks.
