We've seen our share of cruel pranks before, but this one, where a small plane pilot fakes mechanical problems while proposing to his girlfriend, reaches all new lows (er, heights). After all, nothing says wedded bliss like the threat of dying in a fiery plane crash.

In February, Ryan Thompson took girlfriend Carlie Kennedy on a flight above the Chicago skyline. At first, the two seem to be enjoying themselves, but things go awry a short time later.

"All of a sudden I felt my stomach kind of go up in my throat and I realized we were heading straight for the water," said Kennedy.  "And then he [Thompson] said, 'Honey, I need you to stay calm. The flight controls aren’t working.'"

So, Thompson has Kennedy read from a checklist detailing an emergency "ring engagement procedure." While she nervously runs through the procedure, Thompson surprises her with a ring hidden in his pocket. Once the terrified woman realizes what's happening, she begins to laugh and cry in relief at the same time and, amazingly, she says yes.

What do you think of the proposal? Hilarious or mean?
