Reba McEntire and Skylar Laine Duet to ‘Turn On the Radio’ on ‘American Idol’ Finale

While she wasn’t in the final running to become the winner of ‘American Idol‘ this season, Skylar Laine still got to perform on the big finale tonight (May 23). Oh, and did we mention Reba McEntire was there, too? Laine rocked the ‘Idol’ stage for one last time alongside McEntire, performing the country superstar’s hit single ‘Turn On the Radio.’
Getting voted off ‘American Idol’ had to be the last thing on Laine’s mind tonight, as she rocked the stage like a seasoned pro with Reba. As usual, Laine came out with a bang, working the stage from the get go and stomping along to the twangy beat. Her voice was spot on, and when she introduced McEntire, it was like she was welcoming an old friend rather than her own idol.
The “Pride of Mississippi,” as Ryan Seacrest called the 18-year-old, exchanged sly little side glances with McEntire on the chorus of ‘Turn On the Radio,’ and you could tell McEntire was loving her energy. People have been comparing Laine to McEntire for months now, and to see the two together onstage finally was just the perfect end to the season. They sounded absolutely perfect as they harmonized together, and were a joy to watch.
At the end of the ‘Idol’ finale, Phillip Phillips was named the winner of Season 11.
