Ruston Kelly has released a new song, and in his predictably honest style, "A--hole" is one of a series of tracks that raises the vulnerability bar just a little bit higher with each new release. Readers can press play above to hear the gentle, acoustic song, along its with all-too-real lyrics.

"I blew over the line / He cuffed me and brought me in like a prize / I spit on the floor just to piss him off / He pulled out a taser cause he's got no c--k / F--king cops." The song starts with an attention grabbing storyline, moving into a sorry-not-sorry apology in the chorus.

"Taking everything for granted / The moment someone does something nice I take advantage / Easy breezy only when it pleases me / I've been told / I'm kind of an a--hole."

Kelly posted on social media that he wrote the song from jail, after an arrest in January of this year: "Though my full length will be released soon, I’m constantly writing from my experiences. I wrote this in a jail cell a month ago ..." Kelly tweeted.

One of the Boot's New Artists to Watch, Kelly is married to Kacey Musgraves, and has written songs that have been recorded by big country stars including Tim McGraw and the Josh Abbott Band. His debut album, 2017's Halloween, made him an up-and-coming force to be reckoned with, and he is planning to release his first album with Rounder Records later this year. He recently released a music video for his latest single, "1,000 Graves."
