At Least 12 People Killed After Shootings Rock Washington, DC Navy Yard

UPDATED 4:30 p.m. ET: Thirteen people are now confirmed dead, including shooter Aaron Alexis. An alleged second shooter is reportedly still on the loose.

UPDATED 4:00 p.m. ET: The Associated Press has identified the slain shooter as Aaron Alexis, 34. A civilian, he worked as a contractor for the Navy. A second suspect is still being sought.

A dozen people are confirmed dead, with others injured.

UPDATED 2:25 p.m. ET: Washington, DC Mayor Vincent Gray says at least a dozen people have been killed in the shooting. Authorities also say one shooter was killed, while they continue the manhunt for two other people who may have been involved. No motive is known at this time.

UPDATED 1:35 p.m. ET: Washington, DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier says one shooter has been killed, while two others may still be at-large. The Associated Press reports six people were killed in the shooting.

UPDATED 11:50 a.m. ET: CNN reports two suspects “are down.” It’s not clear whether that means they have been taken into custody or killed, although the Associated Press is reporting one shooter has been killed.

UPDATED 11:15 a.m. ET: Police report eight civilians are among the 10 who have reportedly been shot. CBS reports three people have died, with additional fatalities a possibility.There are also reports that multiple shooters were involved.

An unidentified gunman shot at least three people at the Washington Navy Yard this morning.

A Washington, DC police officer is among the people shot. Authorities say 10 people were injured. There are also reports of fatalities. The gunman is on the loose.

The Navy has confirmed the shootings at Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters, where some 3,000 people work.
