Cast all the 'Fringe' stars on premium cable! Just weeks after we marveled at the news that 'Fringe' star Anna Torv would take a leading role in Ryan Murphy's HBO sexuality drama 'Open,' Torv's co-star Joshua Jackson has followed suit with a scandalous role of his own in Showtime's adult drama 'The Affair.' Throw in a Starz series for John Noble, and we've got bingo!

Via The Hollywood Reporter, Jackson joins 'The Affair' cast that already includes 'The Wire' vet Dominic West, as well as 'E.R.''s Maura Tierney and Ruth Wilson. The latest buzzworthy Showtime drama was created by 'In Treatment''s Sarah Treem and Hagai Levi, and will explore two marriages affected by the titular affair, as well as the resulting fallout that ensues.

Somewhat against type, Jackson will take the part of Cole, a hard-edged cowboy who managing a generational family-owned ranch on the eastern tip of Long Island. Cole's wife Allison (Globe nominee Ruth Wilson) works in a pancake house, attempting to piece her life back together in the wake of a terrible tragedy. Said grief leads Allison into an affair with Noah (West), a New Yorker spending his summer on the island with his family, including wife Helen (Tierney).

Treem wrote the pilot to feature both the male and female perspective, while both Treem and Levi will executive produce it alongside director Mark Mylod (‘Shameless‘).

We're happy to see Joshua Jackson back on TV relatively soon after 'Fringe''s end, but what say you? Will you undertake 'The Affair' when the scandalous drama finally comes to Showtime?
