Spurs, Thunder & Mavericks Score Easy Wins + Stars Edge Oilers – The Sports Report 2/7/13

The San Antonio Spurs push their way past Minnesota Timberwolves for their 11th straight win. The Dallas Mavericks just got past the Portland Trailblazers and the Oklahoma City Thunder romp the Golden State Warriors in last night’s NBA action. Over in the NHL, the Stars skated past the Oilers in overtime.

NBA SCORES…

CLEVELAND 122 – Charlotte 95… Kyrie Irving scored 22 points before sitting out the fourth quarter and the Cavaliers glided to the easy win over the Bobcats. Marcus Speights contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.

L.A. Clippers 86 – ORLANDO 76… The Clippers rallied in the second half to down the Magic and snap their three-game losing streak. Eric Bledsoe poured in 27 points. DeAndre Jordan finished with 13 points and 14 boards.

Indiana 88 – PHILADELPHIA 69… The Pacers pulled away in the second half to pound the 76ers and win their fifth straight with their third win in three nights. Roy Hibbert powered his way to 18 points and 14 rebounds. Paul George, George Hill had David West scored 15 points apiece.

WASHINGTON 106 – New York 96… The Wizards got 21 points from John Wall and a season-high 20 points from Trevor Ariza in handing the Knicks their first loss in six games. Nene had 13 points and 10 boards.

Boston 99 – TORONTO 95… The Celtics outscored the Raptors 30-16 in the fourth quarter to escape with their fifth straight victory. Kevin Garnett scored a season-high 27 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Paul Pierce had 12 points and 11 boards.

ATLANTA 103 – Memphis 92… Jeff Teague scored 22 points and dished out a season-high 13 assists as the Hawks took care of the Grizzlies. Josh Smith had 19 points and 11 rebounds. Al Horford added 17 points and 11 boards.

Brooklyn 93 – DETROIT 90… The Nets overcame the Pistons in the fourth quarter to win at Detroit for the first time since 2006. Brook Lopez scored 17 points as all five starters finished in double figures.

MIAMI 114 – Houston 108… LeBron James scored 32 points and Dwyane Wade added 31 as the Heat held off the Rockets. Udonis Haslem gathered 13 rebounds.

NEW ORLEANS 93 – Phoenix 84… Greivis Vasquez scored 19 points and racked up 12 assists as the Hornets got past the Suns. Al-Farouq Aminu finished with 16 points and 11 boards.

OKLAHOMA CITY 119 – Golden State 98… The Thunder mounted 16-4 fourth-quarter run to put away the Warriors. Kevin Durant dropped in 25 points. Russell Westbrook added 22 points.

DALLAS 105 – Portland 99… The Mavericks came up big down the stretch to beat the Trail Blazers and hand coach Jeff Carlisle his 500th career victory. O.J. Mayo scored 28 points. Shawn Marion had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

San Antonio 114 – MINNESOTA 94… Tony Parker’s 31 points led the Spurs to their 11th straight win. Danny Green made 8 3-pointers en route to a career-high 28 points. Kawhi Leonard contributed 19 points and 10 boards.

UTAH 100 – Milwaukee 86… The Jazz erased a 12-point halftime deficit in beating the Bucks. Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson scored 19 points apiece. Jefferson also had 11 rebounds.

Yesterday was letter of intent signing day in college football, sending fans across the nation into ecstasy. Every coach in the nation expressed excitement over their new class of incoming recruits and reported they were able to fill some glaring needs. Of course, we still have to wait five years to determine how accurate their assessments were.
