The San Antonio Spurs held on at the end to pull out a win last night. The MLB Hall of Fame won't have any inductees this year. We've got the scores, highlights, and news on deck today.

NBA SCORES...

CLEVELAND 99 - Atlanta 83.. Kyrie Irving scored 18 of his 33 points in the third quarter as the Cavaliers put away the Hawks. Tristan Thompson scored 14 points and brought down 11 rebounds. Tyler Zeller added 11 points and 12 boards.

 

TORONTO 90 – Philadelphia 72... The Raptors pulled away in the second half to hand the 76ers their fifth straight loss. Amir Johnson and DeMar DeRozan scored 19 points apiece. Johnson also had 12 rebounds. Landry Fields scored 10 points and pulled down 11 boards.

 

Utah 112 – CHARLOTTE 102... The Jazz downed the Bobcats for their fourth win in five games. Al Jefferson led the way with 26 points on 11-for-15 shooting. Utah had five other players score in double figures.

 

BOSTON 87 – Phoenix 79... The Celtics built a double-digit halftime lead and cruised past the Suns. Reserves Jeff Green, Jason Terry and Jared Sullinger scored 14, 13 and 12 points, respectively, to lead a balanced scoring attack.

 

NEW ORLEANS 88 - Houston 79... Roger Mason Jr. scored 15 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter to help rally the Hornets past the Rockets. Greivis Vasquez and Jason Smith also had 17 points on the night. Vasquez dished out 11 assists. Smith and Al-Farouq Aminu grabbed 10 rebounds each.

 

Milwaukee 104 – CHICAGO 96... Brandon Jennings erupted to score 20 of his 35 points in the third quarter as the Bucks overcame an early double-digit deficit and beat the Bulls. Larry Sanders had 12 boards.

 

OKLAHOMA CITY 106 - Minnesota 84... The Thunder got 26 points from Kevin Durant and 23 points from Russell Westbrook in routing the undermanned Timberwolves. Oklahoma City took control with a 12-2 second-quarter run.

 

SAN ANTONIO 108 - L.A. Lakers 105... The Spurs held on at the end to hand the Lakers their fifth straight loss. Tony Parker scored 24 points to lead six players in double figures. Tiago Splitter finished with 14 points and as many rebounds.

 

DENVER 108 - Orlando 105... The Nuggets rallied in the fourth quarter to hand the Magic their 10th straight loss. They took the lead for good on a Ty Lawson three-point play with 1:27 remaining. Kenneth Faried powered his way to 19 points and 19 boards.

 

Memphis 94 – GOLDEN STATE 87... The Grizzlies used their big-man advantage to beat the Warriors for the eighth straight time. Zach Randolph led the way with 19 points and 12 rebounds. All five Memphis starters were in double figures.

 

L.A. CLIPPERS 99 - Dallas 93... Chris Paul scored 19 points and handed out 16 assists in leading the Clippers past the Mavericks. Matt Barnes added 19 points off the bench. L.A. extended its home winning streak to 13 games.

NBA NEWS...

The NBA has suspended New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony one game for his confrontation with the Celtics' Kevin Garnett following Boston's win on Monday night. Anthony confronted Garnett in the arena tunnel, near the players' locker rooms and in the parking garage, the NBA said.

 

MLB NEWS...

For the first time since 1996 and for only the eighth time in history, the Baseball Writers' Association of America has elected nobody for the Hall of Fame. 37 candidates were eligible for election, but none was named on the necessary 75 percent of ballots. First-time candidate Craig Biggio came up 39 votes short of election. Steroid-tainted former stars Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds scored 37.6 percent and 36.2 percent, respectively, in their first appearances on the ballot.
