Stoney Creek Bluegrass Band, ‘Fast Train’ Music Video [Exclusive Premiere]

Twangy West Virginia neo-traditionalists Stoney Creek Bluegrass Band are premiering the music video for their new song "Fast Train" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play above to watch.

Written by Stoney Creek guitarist Kenton "Red" Catlett and country artist Gib Sage, "Fast Train" chronicles a worker's journey back home to the woman he loves. It was originally recorded as country tune in 1980 by Sage, but it ultimately went unreleased when his record label folded. Ever since, however, Catlett's bluegrass version has been part of his live performances; it was included on Stoney Creek Bluegrass Band's 2017 album Live on Location as well.

The music video for "Fast Train" was filmed throughout the country. Though much of the clip was shot at a railroad station in Charles Town, W.V., the video also features stunning sights from the state's Eastern Panhandle; shots of Chicago, Ill., and Amarillo, Texas, are also in the mix, along with scenes from Martinsburg, W.V.'s Roundhouse Center.

Comprised of Catlett, banjo player Troy Stangle, mandolinist Brett Smeltzer and vocalist-bassist Libby Files, Stoney Creek Bluegrass Band are known for fusing bluegrass traditionalism with gospel sensibilities. "We try to put on a show that will entertain any music fan, even if they don’t consider themselves a bluegrass fan," Files says. "The show offers something for everyone."
