One Night Rodeo (ONR), The Next GAC Star winner is a contemporary country sounding band that is from Bradenton, FL. ONR is made up of Cory Hildreth on lead vocals, keys, guitar, and mandolin while Duane Allison plays bass guitar and covers vocals too. For the most part Cory and Duane have 13 years and over 2,000 performances under their belt.ONR has opened for some heavyweights like Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban and Montgomery Gentry to name a few. Now ONR released a fundraising song to benefit the American Cancer Society.

As I sit here on the eve of our St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Radiothon I am thinking about how I will tell everyone just how great this hospital and it's people are. It's actually hard to put it into words; I wish I could just take everyone there for one day to experience it for themselves. If I could do that we would never have to ask for money again it would just be something everyone would do without prompting. However, I can't do that so I'll try to give you a reason or two here, as to why I think this is the best charity to donate your hard earned money to.

American Cancer Society is Hosting Abilene's First Bark for Life Relay February 23rd.

You know what 'Relay for Life' is right? Well just imagine the very same thing, but only with the family pet. The American Cancer Society (ACS) in Abilene is holding the first ever 'Bark for Life' here at 'Camp Barkley' next to Grover Nelson Park. Unlike 'Relay for Life,' the Bark for Life will go from 9 AM until 1 PM whereas Relay for Life goes from 7 PM until 7 AM. The four hour four legged event will be much like the human event a "fun and festive atmosphere" complete with a survivor lap and games.

Understanding the 'Affordable Care Act' (ACA) especially for for people living with cancer, could take a law and/or medical degree. The Folks at Cancer Services Network are holding workshop to help you better understand the ACA, December 12th, 2012. The workshop will cover topics like; Cancer Treatment Overviews, the Costs of Cancer (direct medical costs and related non-medical costs), Daily Living Expenses and so much more. This will be a 'brown bag' luncheon workshop with drinks and desert provided.

Rock Station 108 Plays Requests For Breasts Cancer Awareness

October is breast cancer awareness month and as the month is down to it’s final days, sister station Rock 108 is going all out to help a local non-profit organization (The Alliance for Women & Children) raise funds that go directly to patient and family support. Rock-108 Program Director Frank Pain came up with the idea and it helps that it rhymes, they call it “Requests for Breasts.” If you want to hear a certain song on the Rock station, simply submit your request into the front office at 3911 south first accompanied with at least a five dollars or more. Requests are then played from 11 AM until 3 PM. The final day is Friday Oct. 28th. So hurry and get your money and request into the radio station.
