The Worst Case of Animal Abuse in West Texas – Graphic Images

Rescue The Animals (RTA)/SPCA in Abilene responded to a call of animal abuse near Gorman, Texas. SPCA Investigator Mindi Qualls says "it's the worst case ever of animal abuse that I have ever come upon." Mindi told me that, what she found was a nightmare and it made her physically ill. After I viewed the photos and the videos, I too was sickened and became emotional as I wondered "who would do this to an animal?" I will warn you now, this contains graphic images.

Omar von Muller is one of the most successful, most respected animal trainers in America. Can you believe that his dog Jumpy the Border Collie mix, famous for his roles in the TV show NCIS was once rescued from an animal shelter. Jumpy is considered legendary in the motion picture and television industry, however I believe Jumpy and Omar are better known because of their awesome YouTube videos. Omar has several other dogs too, but I'm a huge fan of Jumpy and Omar, check their video.

This is the Video Story of “Daisy, the Little Pup Who Believed” She Would Walk Again

As I volunteer with Abilene's Rescue the Animals, they share stories with me that make me angry and want to cry at the same time, this is one of those stories. A story about a pup that was found on the side of a busy road. A passerby named Jolene saw something and decided to stop and investigate. Jolene found an injured puppy she named Daisy. Jolene takes Daisy to a veterinarian to see if the puppy could be helped. She was told that Daisy's back was broken and that she might never walk again. Watch as Daisy's incredible story unfolds. Caution this video may move you.

Abilene’s Emergency Pet Adoption in Pictures

Friday Saturday and Sunday was awesome, especially for the homeless animals from Abilene and 19 surrounding counties. Just as one pet was being adopted,  someone else would step up to the table and say "I want that little guy there, how much is he, and who do I pay?" Aaron Vannoy with the City's Animal Shelter says "the final numbers are still being counted, but one thing is for certain, we beat last years numbers." Rescue the Animals worker Mindy said "I know how many forms be brought and we ran out."

Rudy Will Live in an Oversize Dog House During the Emergency Animal Adoption This Weekend

A couple of weeks ago Paul Washburn with Rescue the Animals and Aaron Vannoy Animal Services Manager for the City of Abilene approached me with the idea of me living in that over-sized doghouse again, to draw attention to the unwanted animals at area shelters. I thought about it for a minute and said yes. The reason for me doing it again is simple, we are so close to setting an all time record for animals adopted here in Abilene that I'd hate to miss setting a new record while saving more pets.
