In 1979 two brothers from Florida had crossed over from the "Billboard" pop-charts and went No.1 on the Country charts. Not only did David and Howard Bellamy migrate from the pop music side, they became a mainstay on the country music landscape. "If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body" was No.1 for nearly a month and it got the Bellamy Brothers nominated for several country music awards. But the summer of '79 also had other amazing songs like it.
Platinum certification for one million albums sold didn't begin until 1976, so while other recordings may have soared past this sales mark, 'Wanted: The Outlaws' became the first official platinum album that year. The project featured Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter and it would eventually go on to be certified double platinum.
Jessi Colter widow of the late, Country Music Hall of Famer Waylon Jennings, says her days are filled with people who want to talk about her late husband, they tell her stories, some of which are true and others she questions.
