Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts Team Up for ‘What Hurts the Most’ in Nashville

Taylor Swift won’t ever forget where she came from. While she straddles the line between pop and country, the singer kept her Keds firmly planted in the country genre during the second of three sold-out stints at the Bridgetone Arena in Nashville last night (Sept. 20) by inviting Rascal Flatts to duet with her on their song ‘What Hurts the Most.’

“Nashville is all about remembering where you came from,” Swift declared at the point in her set when it came time to introduce her special guests. “And remembering the people who are your absolute idols and remembering the people who helped you out in the very beginning and took you on their arena tour, their sold-out tour, and nobody knew your name. For me, I have this artist, this band, who took me on tour when nobody knew who I was, and about five years ago, I opened up for them here in this building.”

The crowd was psyched at Swift’s choice to once again invite a country act to share her stage. Last night (Sept. 19), Luke Bryan flew out to perform and following up with the country trio showed us that yes, Taylor Swift does indeed remember where she came from.

Swift, looking extra cute in her sparkly black shorts, leaned on Gary LeVox’s shoulder while he sang and then proceeded to strut her stuff while she sang with the singer.

Mid-song, Swift pointed out that the band has done so much for her, for the city of Nashville and for their fans. She then requested fans to hold up anything with a light (like cell phones) and to illuminate the building.

Swift detractors and haters can (and should) stop questioning her country quotient now!
