The first announcements were just released as to who is up for what in the Texas Regional Radio (TRR) Music Awards. Texas music newcomer Roy Solis kicked off his new year with some unexpected great news. He was just nominated for New Male Vocalist in the first round of voting. Solis said he was taken completely by surprise when he first learned of he announcement. Solis said “I’m overwhelmed and honored to be a nominee. I am grateful to my fans, my peers and radio for this honor. This is a great way to start my New Year!”

The 3rd Annual TRR Music Awards won't be held until April 21st, and that's a really long time to hang in suspense for any artist. The show is scheduled to be held at the recently renovated Arlington Music Hall. Get your tickets early because the hall will only hold about 1,100 in the auditorium.

Roy's first two singles, 'Tailgate Party' and 'Corpus Christi,' had the young Texas star hitting the road running. Since touring the Lone Star State, Solis has released yet another single called, 'Sippin’ On A Six-Pack' and it's gaining ground and the attention of Texas country radio. Roy can usually be found playing with or opening for my buddy Kevin Fowler.

Voting for the next round of Texas Regional Radio Music Awards nominees is now open and will continue through Monday, February 4th. Industry professionals as well as fans can cast their vote by visiting the TRR Music Awards website. Tickets are available on the website as well.
