Mark your calendars for the upcoming tax free weekend. Texas tax free weekend is August 10-12th this year.

What does this mean exactly? You can save money on anything from pens and pencils, backpacks, to shoes/clothing and more. Items priced under $100 can be bought without having to pay the State sales tax of 8.25%. That means you are saving about $8 for every $100 you spend.

There are of course a few exceptions to which this "no tax" applies. The list of what is considered taxable or not can be found here. These school supplies must be under $100 but are considered tax free. You can see a full list of what can and can't be purchased tax free on the Comptroller's website.

Do you take advantage of tax free weekend when buying your back to school supplies and clothing?
