On Thursday, April 5, nearly 600 elementary students at East Tennessee’s Doak Elementary School got a surprise meet and greet with award-winning sibling trio the Band Perry. Though the students didn’t expect the visit from the ‘All Your Life’ singers, they certainly deserved it. The elementary school, which the Perrys attended when they were young, had just raised more than $40,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Kimberly, Reid and Neil felt especially grateful for the young students and their contributions to the fight against cancer, as they just lost a friend to the horrible disease. In a television interview about their visit, Kimberly opened up a bit about the recent loss and her gratitude to Doak Elementary.

“It’s in honor of a dear friend of ours, Miss Lisa White, who passed away from cancer,” she said. “So it was really amazing just to honor her life today and to raise money for such an amazing organization,” (quote via Country Weekly). To make the day even more meaningful, the band hung out with students and took time to talk with them and sign autographs.

The Band Perry took the ACM stage last weekend (Sunday, April 1) to perform their hot new single ‘Postcard from Paris,’ bringing the house down and proving once again that they can churn out killer singles with the best of them. The single is already sitting at No.29 on Billboard’s Country Songs chart, and we’re expecting to watch it continue its ascent.
