The Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake Bowl-A-Thon is April 6th at the Abilene Bowling Lanes
How’s your bowling skills? Polish them up and get ready for the 2013 ‘Bowl for Kids Sake’ Bowl-A-Thon, benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, April 6th, from 10am till 9pm at the Abilene Bowling Lanes 279 Ruidosa. Michelle Parrish Big Brothers Big Sisters Events Coordinator says “everyone that participates in a team will get a T shirt and be eligible to win all kinds of door prizes.
Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of America began the Bowl For Kids’ Sake fundraiser in the early 1980s, with several of the 400+ nationwide agencies participating. As for the Abilene Big Brothers Big Sisters they had their first Bowl-A-Thon in 1985. The participants of the early bowling tournaments consisted mainly of Big Brothers Big Sisters’ volunteers. Today, participants form teams at their places of work, church groups and other organizations.
