Though it would have been cool to see Nicolas Cage palling around with The Expendables, it appears that his deal could not be met, and so Kelsey Grammer is looking to step into his role as an ally to Sylvester Stallone and company in 'The Expendables 3.'

Deadline is reporting that Grammer is nearing a deal to join the film as "Bonaparte, an ex-mercenary who helps the Expendables in their mission." With a name like that, it might be worth keeping an eye on him, but perhaps the only Napoleon complex Grammer will face is not in height but testosterone. The performer is best known for his work as Frasier Crane on the hit shows 'Cheers' and 'Frasier,' though his image has changed a little recently as he played a much more morally complicated character in the Starz show 'Boss' and will be playing the villain in the upcoming 'Transformers: Age of Extinction.'

Currently filming is underway on the project, so his role is likely to be kept to a minimum (as it would have been with Cage), so it's likely that he'll have a glorified cameo. But between this and 'Transformers,' Grammer is set to have a big summer next year. 'The Expendables 3' will hit theaters August 15, 2014.
