‘The Newsroom’ Season 2 Trailer: Chips Are Falling!

Last night may have been ‘Game of Thrones” shining finale moment, but HBO spared no expenses in promoting both its recently announced returns and the long-expected premieres to come this summer. Aaron Sorkin‘s ‘The Newsroom‘ season 2 finally received a proper trailer, but does it look like Sorkin learned any lessons from the multiple misfires of the journalism drama’s first season?

There’s no more wandering the desert for the cast of ‘The Newsroom’ season 2, having finally been granted a full trailer during last night’s ‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 finale, “Mhysa.” Things certainly look dramatic for the employees of ‘News Night,’ with a great deal of fallout from calling the Tea Party the “American Taliban” in season 1, as well as Jim and Maggie’s affection for one another, and even the prospect of Sloan (Olivia Munn) leaking some colorful photographs. Hey, just like real life! And let’s not forget about Occupy Wall Street!

The second season features appearances by ‘Justified‘ star Patton Oswalt as the fictional networks new vice president of human resources, Marcia Gay Harden as litigator Rebecca Halliday and Meryl Streep’s daughter Grace Gummer as a reporter embedded within the Mitt Romney campaign, to which Jim has since relocated. We know that much of season 2 will focus on the 2012 elections, but Sorkin added events such as Trayvon Martin, the Affordable Care Act, drones, Dominique Strauss-Kahn and Muammar Gaddafi.

The hotly anticipated second season of ‘The Newsroom’ will premiere on July 14, so watch the trailer above and give us you predictions in the comments!
