For the past 24 years Abilene has been home to the Texas High School State Finals Rodeo, where the top high school rodeo athletes come to compete. Over 650 athletes come from all over the Lone Star State for three reasons, the right to be called "State Champions," a chance to go on to the National High School Finals Rodeo and scholarship money. The public is invited to come and support these young cowboys and cowgirls competing at the Taylor County Expo Center June 9th through the 15th.

The week long competition will play host to a wide array of rodeo events. Events like pole bending, barrel racing, bull riding, bronc riding, team roping and many more. Other fun non-rodeo events also include drag racing, where students race two Dodge trucks, one student steers and the rest of his/her class-mates push the truck to the finish line, no motors allowed. From personal experience, this is one fun family event, hope to see you there.
