‘Thor 2′ Director Alan Taylor Thinks the Post-Credits Scene Sucks

Thor 2 Post Credits Scene Alan Taylor
Marvel

Last week, we brought you the news that ‘Thor 2‘ would feature not one, but two post-credits scenes, each of which would feature some big reveals. Fans were understandably excited after many left disappointed at the jokey ‘Iron Man 3‘ post-credits scene. But, one person who’s not excited about the ‘Thor 2′ post-credits scene? ‘Thor 2′ director Alan Taylor, who isn’t happy at all that it was edited into his movie.

Before we get started, there are some spoilers ahead for one of the ‘Thor 2′ post-credit scenes. We will try to keep it as vague as possible, but just the virtue of the conversation may hint at things you don’t want to know. That said…

Bleeding Cool caught up with Taylor at the film’s press day in London and asked about the mid-credits, specifically if he directed it, to which Taylor replied, “I absolutely did not. I am very happy to not take responsibility.” He was then asked if it was ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ director James Gunn who was responsible for the scene.

“I wouldn’t blame it on James Gunn…Er, I wouldn’t attribute it to James Gunn. Tt’s clearly his sets and his characters.” (To note, Kevin Feige would later confirm that Gunn did indeed direct the mid-credits scene about four weeks ago in London.)

Asked straight up if he was unhappy that another director’s scene was tacked on to his movie, Taylor reiterated, “I am very happy not to take responsibility for that.”

When pressed what his specific issues with the scene were, Taylor responded, “It’s a different tone. I would have shot it differently….The ‘Guardians’ universe is really cool and wacky, but that sequence in the credits, I would say, is the only part of the movie where I’m happy to give the credit away.”

This is not the first time Taylor has clashed with Marvel, after rumors surfaced during post-production that the two sides were arguing over the tone of the film. Taylor wanted a longer, gritter film, while Marvel wanted a shorter, lighter movie (guess which side won?). We’re surprised Taylor is going public with his feelings, especially considering previous Marvel films have had post-credits scenes directed by people other than the director.

‘Thor 2′ hits theaters on November 8 and there will surely be a debate about the post-credits scenes, but until then, we can only speculate as to what the fuss is all about.
