Good news for concertgoers, as President Barak Obama has recently signed into law the "Better Online Ticket Sales (BOTS) Act of 2016" which will outlaw the use of software in purchasing tickets to popular events, engadget reports. In other words, when vying for a coveted pair of tickets, real fans won't be competing against automated purchasing bots aiming to capitalize on the resell market.

The new law makes it illegal to use a bot to purchase more than a specified number of tickets for a concert or sporting event. It is also now illegal to resell a ticket purchased using a bot. Both the person who used the bot software and anyone with knowledge of how the tickets in question were obtained can be held liable for an offense.

President Obama has passed other music-related measures during his time in office as well, such as this June when he declared it African-American Music Appreciation Month.
