Lost in the hoopla of the Boston Red Sox winning the World Series is the fact baseball will be losing one of its pre-eminent color commentators.

Tim McCarver was in the booth for his final Fall Classic and got a chance to say goodbye, with longtime Fox partner Joe Buck at his side.

McCarver, whose first World Series in the booth was 1985, has served as an analyst for more than 30 years and is now off to retirement. His goodbye to the game didn’t get the fanfare in his final days of work as Mariano Rivera, but, whether you loved him or hated him, it’s certainly worth noting.
