Toby Keith Snags Early Win for Music Video of the Year at 2012 CMA Awards

The first 2012 CMA Awards trophies were announced Thursday morning (Nov. 1) during ABC’s ‘Good Morning America,’ and Toby Keith is one of the first winners. His video clip for ‘Red Solo Cup’ snagged Music Video of the Year honors.
The award goes to both the ‘Red Solo Cup’ singer and to director Michael Salomon. To date, the unedited version of ‘Red Solo Cup’ has garnered over 18 million views on YouTube.
It is likely a good thing that the award was announced early in the day, too, as Keith says he will not be attending the CMA Awards on Thursday (Nov. 1). “Hell no, I ain’t showing up. I gotta go get a root canal that day, or something fun,” Keith remarked sarcastically when asked whether he planned to attend the ceremony.
Toby Keith’s new album, ‘Hope on the Rocks,’ hit store shelves and digital retailers on Oct. 30.
