Luke Combs released the deluxe edition of his debut album, titled This One’s for You Too, earlier this month. The 17-track album includes five new songs, many of which Combs has been playing at shows throughout his career. One of those tracks includes the heartbreaking "She Got the Best of Me," which is a staple in his live set.

On "She Got the Best of Me," Combs sings of his first heartbreak as a teenager. "Seventeen, you don't think that much about life / You just live it," he sings on the first verse. As the song progresses, Combs explains how he jumped into love at that young age, never afraid of anything. Things soon change, though, as it's obvious the singer had a falling out with his girl by the time the chorus hits.

"She got the best of me / She broke my heart / Now all that's left of me / Is beating in this guitar / Every night, a different town / She follows me around / So you get what's left of me / Yeah, you get what's left of me / 'Cause she got the best of me," he sings on the chorus.

Combs co-wrote "She Got the Best of Me" with Rob Snyder and Channing Wilson. The soaring power ballad highlights the singer's deep vocals well, while the accompanying music further assists in showcasing the hurt within the song's lyrics.

Luke Combs' "She Got the Best of Me" Lyrics:

Seventeen, you don't think that much about life / You just live it / Like kerosene dancing around a fire / But you're in it / So you jump right in / Ain't afraid to fall / And you give it all

Chorus:

She got the best of me / She broke my heart / Now all that's left of me / Is beating in this guitar / Every night, a different town / She follows me around / So you get what's left of me / Yeah, you get what's left of me / 'Cause she got the best of me

I picked myself up off the floor / And found something new worth living for / And an old dusty hand-me-down six string / And a couple chords / I'm getting over her / A little more with every song / So y'all sing a-long

Chorus:

She got the best of me / She got the best of me / She got the best of me
