Everyone has little things that get on their nerves. Maybe it drives you nuts when people pop their gum, or crack their knuckles, or when people say “I know, right?”. Or maybe nails on a chalkboard are, well, like nails on a chalkboard. I’m talking about pet peeves. When those (usually) harmless, minor habits that people have annoy you to a greater degree than it probably should.

The funny thing about pet peeves is, for every one you have, you probably tick someone else off with something you do…and you don’t even know it.

For years, my pet peeve was spelling. I could actually narrow it down to the incorrect spelling of two words that would make me want to slam my head in the door: “definitely” and “weird”. I can’t explain it, but I’m glad I’ve moved past it, because you’d be surprised how many people misspell those two words!

My wife hates it when our twelve year old cracks his knuckles. So do I, but it hasn’t reached pet peeve-level yet.

My coworker, J.R. doesn’t like it much when people don’t have the good sense to clean up after themselves. He got pretty worked up just thinking about it.

Shay told me she gets infuriated when she goes through a fast food drive-thru, and drives all the way home only to find out they messed up her order. Is it just me, or does that seem to happen a lot?

Your turn. What little habit makes your blood boil? What behavior gets under your skin? What is your biggest pet peeve? Share with us in the comment section below…unless that’s one of your pet peeves. In that case, a hand-written note will do!
