Part of my daily routine is to check all the latest scores and standings. This year, it seems that has become a very depressing thing. I'm one of the biggest Yankees fans on the planet and we're not doing that great this year. We're third in our division and nowhere close to the caliber of what we expect out of the New York Yankees.

So, as I listen to all of the chuckles of the Yankees haters out there, I think back to the last time they won it all. I was at a local bar and the final out was made and we just won our 27th title (the most in all pro sports). I remember my buddy Lee and I in tears as we planned to buy our next round of championship t-shirts.

Then it dawned on me, yeah, we really were crying tears of joy for our favorite team and no one batted an eye at us. It was expected. It was accepted.

But, there are certain times a man can cry without ridicule and times he can't.

So, (in my opinion) here are the times that it's okay for a man to cry:

When your favorite team 'wins it all'
At the birth of your child
When you're kicked in the jewels
When meeting Ozzy Osbourne
When meeting Kate Upton
The death of a loved one
The death of your family pet
When your favorite car, truck or motorcycle gets totaled
When visiting war memorials
While watching the following movies:

  • Old Yeller
  • Field of Dreams
  • Braveheart
  • Gran Torino
  • The Green Mile
  • The Shawshank Redemption
  • Any Star Wars movie
  • Bambi
  • Saving Private Ryan
  • Forrest Gump
  • Rudy
  • Brian's Song
  • Friday Night Lights
  • The Pride of the Yankees
  • Dead Poet's Society
  • Million Dollar Baby
  • Schindler's List
  • Toy Story 3

And, here are the times that it's NOT okay for a man to cry:

After sex
When your team loses
During these movies:

  • Steel Magnolias
  • A League of Their Own
  • Jerry Maguire
  • Ghost
  • The Notebook

So, can you think of any instances that I left off of either list? If so, comment below.
