Willie Nelson has shared a new song, "To Get Here," in advance of the release of Dog Years, the new film in which it appears. Readers can press play below to hear the song.

"To Get Here," written by Diane Warren (Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," LeAnn Rimes' "How Do I Live"), features Nelson's voice over the simple, warm sounds of a guitar. The song finds Nelson revisiting some of the tough choices that he has made during the course of his life.

"All the mistakes I made, I’m glad I made them / All the wrong turns I took, I had to take them," Nelson sings. "Can’t look back with regret, 'cause the view is never clear / That’s what it took to get here.”

Dog Years is scheduled to make its debut during the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, on April 22. Rolling Stone explains that, in the film, Burt Reynolds plays an aging movie star who is being driven around Tennessee by a young woman (played by Ariel Winter, known for her role in Modern Family) while trying to figure things out in his life. The reflection that Nelson is singing about in "To Get Here" mirrors what Reynolds is feeling in the movie.

Nelson will release a new album, God’s Problem Child, on April 28.
