Wynonna Judd has announced a new chapter and musical direction with her signing to the independent label Anti- Records. Rolling Stone Country debuted the announcement and a stunning new song the five-time Grammy winner recorded in her home.

Los Angeles-based Anti- Records is known for an extraordinarily diverse roster that features everything from country to hip-hop, reggae, soul, folk, rap and indie rock. Judd says the label's ethos is a perfect fit for where she wants to go next.

“Now more than ever, I am on a mission to rediscover the reason I got into this business,” Judd tells Rolling Stone Country, “and Anti- is giving me the musical freedom to do that."

Judd's voice has won her millions of fans, selling over thirty million albums worldwide over the span of her 35-year music career. She and her husband and musical partner, Cactus Moser, have been experimenting sonically through their band the Big Noise. One of their latest additions is a recording studio on their farm, where Moser works with new instruments and sounds to help bring bout the band's sonic flair.

Judd was looking out her window at her farm outside of Nashville and in a spontaneous act of prayer, decided to record herself singing in the chair she dubbed her "prayer chair." The chart-topper recorded herself on her iPhone covering the classic song "Feelin' Good" completely a cappella, without professional recording studio equipment or any editing post-recording. The recording at the top of the page shows just how well her voice is trained.

Written by British composers Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse for the 1964 musical The Roar of the Greasepaint – The Smell of the Crowd, "Feelin' Good" became a classic after Nina Simone recorded it in 1965. Traffic, George Michael, Michael Buble and more have also covered the standard, whose lyrics address positive changes coming for the narrator: "It's a new dawn / It's a new day / It's a new life for me / And I'm feeling good."

“It’s kind of my battle cry for 2019,” Wynonna says of the song, which she says is indicative of a rawer approach she will take to her new music. “I am determined to march into this new season with a sense of pure determination, not from arrogance, but from confidence knowing that I have a gift, and I know how to use it.”
