This is the grand opening celebration of the Abilene Zoo's multi-million dollar Giraffe Safari. Celebrate the newest zoo feature with a ribbon cutting and hand feeding of the giraffes.

We all loved the old 'bridge' at the Abilene Zoo that took you across the giraffe exhibit, bringing you eye level to the tall animals. However, the new display is a grand addition.

The new giraffe safari was a $3.8 million dollar investment in our community. We have one of the most magnificent zoo's in this part of Texas and with this new safari it's bound to increase the whole zoo experience.

This Saturday, April 23rd is the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting and is being held in conjunction with Earth Day. The ribbon cutting will be at 10 am and is open to the public.Visitors will also be able to hand feed the giraffe. Wylie ISD will also have conservation displays set up throughout the zoo.

Costs for the day are: Adults $7.00; Seniors $6.00; Ages 3-12 $4.50; 2 and under FREE.
