'Guardians of the Galaxy,' Marvel's weirdest upcoming superhero film, may be looking for a strong anchor for the title (they may need to, it does feature a talking raccoon). Word is they're going out to both Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey for a role in the film.

This comes from Latino Review, who have been the go-to site for Marvel scoops for a while now, so we believe these offers have been made, even if nothing comes of it. It is unknown who they'd be playing, or perhaps they're being offered voice work as one of the non-human Guardians. This comes across (especially if it's voice work) as good for both parties, it gives a name to a weird project, while also offering a relatively easy high profile gig.

Latino Review also mentioned that the search for the lead Peter Quill -- which has included names like John Krasinski, Eddie Redmayne, Jim Sturgess, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Zachary Levi -- is still on and you can add Wes Bentley, Cam Gigandet, and Chris Lowell to the list of hopefuls. As this is an ensemble film, perhaps director James Gunn needs to start seeing all the pieces before he can assemble his team. With a rumored March start date, and a previously announced August 1, 2014 release date, we're sure the official casting will be announced shortly.
