Singer-songwriter Ben Glover is premiering his new song "Ride the River" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play below to hear the track.

Glover, a Nashville-based Americana artist, is joined by vocalist Kim Richey on the breezy "Ride the River;" the two also co-wrote the song together. The tune "is the story of two lovers conspiring to get free together, dreaming and planning their great escape from the commitments of the world," Glover tells The Boot.

"No matter what elements and obstacles stood before them," he adds, "they were moving through it all with complete devotion to one another."

To drive home the message of "Ride the River," Glover and Richey's haunting vocals are paired with rich symbolism and dreamy sonic layers.

"When writing the song, Kim and I wanted to use the sense and symbols of time," Glover explains, "to show just how far these characters would go in their pursuit of being together."

"Ride the River" appears on Glover's forthcoming album, Shorebound, a record that the artist describes as a "major turning point in a cycle." It's set for release on May 4 via Proper Records.

"Shorebound is an acknowledgment of where I am and the celebration of the people who I've gotten here with," he says. "[The album] features 12 songs, 10 of which were co-written with and feature the voices of some of my closest musical cohorts."
